June 2002 - The Laws of Kenneth MacAlpinThe following is an excerpt from the February 2001 edition of The Scottish Banner. The origin of these laws, sometimes called the "MacAlpin Code", has been the topic of debate by historians. While several possible authors have been put forth, the largest number of votes have traditionally been given to King Kenneth MacAlpin. As far as we are concerned, if not the sole author, King Kenneth was the principal contributor to this set of laws and, it was he who was primarily responsible for its preservation due to his implementation of the code as a functioning set of laws by which the populace lived.
